Shiqian is my hometown. It is a small town, which lies at the foot of a big mountain. In the past, there were many trees around it, but no tall buildings could be seen and the streets were narrow. Just in the middle of the town, there was a river. People could see different kinds of fish swimming in the clear water and many birds flying in the sky. People here lived a simple life.

Great changes have taken place here since 1995. Now you can see tall buildings everywhere. There are many factories, stores and some schools. The streets have become very wide. Many cars and buses are running in it. With the development of industry, the pollution of air and water is becoming worse and worse. The river is now dirty with rubbish floating in water and the factories are sending off heavy smoke. We must find a way to stop pollution and make our town even more beautiful.
